To Implement a Change Request

Approved change requests do not necessarily need to be implemented as soon as they are approved. Many administrators will use a just-in-time practice and work back from the required date.

The actual work done on objects can be driven and automated by using a work order and related task objects to provide improved auditability. These are commonly referred to as change notices for data and documents and work authorizations (modifications) for physical items and serialized instances of physical items. For more information, see Work Orders and Tasks.

  1. Open the object you want changed in the Content pane.

    (Change Status = Under Change)

  2. Click the Implement Change icon in the action bar.

The Create a new <Object> Revision dialog opens. In this example a document is the affected object.

  3. Enter a new number or a new revision and if necessary alter the title. If more than one expedited or approved change request exists against the object, a list of all change requests is presented.
  4. Select one or more change requests in the list and then set the Action to Implement.
  5. Click Create Revision.

The Revision Operation Complete dialog opens.

  6. Click OK.

The new revision of the document displays in the Content pane. The document status is set to Draft. The Change History topic displays the current and previous revisions of the document.
